“I just gave birth to my third and final baby! I had contacted a doula Samantha Kelly with Beautifully Made Doula Care through a recommendation on this page for support during my pregnancy/ labor and delivery! I have never had a doula with my prior two pregnancies. I sought out a doula because I’m someone who really wants a female/ maternal support person in addition to having my husband there for birth and my mom was not able to attend this birth! My baby was face up during labor so even though I had the epidural, I started experiencing extreme pain with each contraction in my back/hips because of the pressure on my spine from the baby’s position. The contractions were so close together and I was miserable. Samantha worked with me continually helping me reposition in positions to encourage the baby to turn and we were able to get the baby to turn enough to were my pain significantly decreased and he came out face down!! While I was experiencing the painful contractions in my back initially, she knew how to apply pressure to areas to give me so much relief! I’m so thankful for her help! Samantha was the best and everything I needed out of a doula. Throughout the process she was insightful, comforting and detailed about every step. She listened to my concerns and ultimately put my mind at ease through any worries. On the day she walked in prepared, opened up a bag full of items to make my journey more comfortable and then stood by my side the entire time. Her presence and guidance in the hospital room led to a positive birth story that I happily look back on often. I truly believe that her comforting measures led to more time without interventions and mindfulness to work through the pain. Highly recommend her and I’m so glad she was by our side on that day.

Samantha is the BEST! I was not planning to hire a doula for my second pregnancy, because I was planning to get an epidural and didn’t think having a doula would be very beneficial if I was not going to have a natural birth. I was WRONG. With my first, I had an emergency C-section and never went into labor so I didn’t really know what to expect. Having Samantha’s support while I got closer to my due date was so helpful, and her birth class taught my husband and I a ton even though we had taken a different birth class before having our first. She was able to help me navigate the very difficult last few weeks of pregnancy and prepare for having a newborn. She helped me figure out what I wanted the birth process to look like, and supported me in my decisions. When the day came, she brought many comfort items to the hospital, stayed calm, and worked closely with the nurse to recommend different positions for me to be in (even with my epidural!) to help encourage baby to make his way out on his own and avoid another C section. I am convinced that without her I could not have had a VBAC. I tell all of my friends about her the second they find out they are pregnant. She is truly the best there is!

Where do we start?!? They are EVERYTHING you need for before, during and after birth. Ciarra and Samantha are absolutely amazing and were with us every step of the way. You never realize when you’re going to need the experience they have until you do…which is exactly what happened when I found myself at 42 weeks and only 1 cm dilated and facing a c section that was not planned. However, one of the most helpful things we found was the “hotline” service they provide where my husband and I were able to text them anytime we had a question. Should we encapsulate my placenta, ask the hotline! Looking for more info on belly binding, ask the hotline! Should we store babies cord blood, ask the hotline! It saved us so much time not having to google and research the millions of questions we had with our first kiddo. My husband said that people who are called to this kind of work are like angels that walk amongst us…I can’t agree more!

Ciarra and Samantha were incredible from start to finish. We hired them in the beginning of the second trimester and right away they started helping us. They sent us references for midwives and after finding a midwife they always checked in on us after our appointments. Their communication was quick, effective, and nurturing. They went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of emotionally and physically throughout pregnancy and labor. At week 36 of pregnancy my partner and I had to make a difficult decision to stray from our original birth plan. Ciarra and Samantha were so helpful during that process and spent many conversations on the phone with us talking out our situation and helping us weigh the risks and benefits. When my baby came early they were there! They even managed to birth twins and my baby during the same night. If you’re looking to be deeply supported and loved throughout pregnancy and labor, hire Ciarra and Samantha. You will not be disappointed.

Ciarra and Samantha are amazing doulas. They make you feel supported while increasing your knowledge about birth and empowering you to make sound choices. They have so many resources and are available and helpful throughout pregnancy. I believe every woman would benefit from having a doula – especially Ciarra and Samantha.
